Vero Beach 2018

Chapter Index

Sunday, May 27

After having arrived late the rainy night before, we got up to find the rain had continued and it was windy, too. Fortunately the condo had a very nice sitting area that was semi-private, and had nice views. You could see the beach to the right and the town to the left.

We had a leisurely breakfast at a nice local place called the Lemon Tree.

Later in the day the rain tapered off and we walked the beach and explored the resort. The sunsets were beautiful.

Monday, May 28

We spent the morning relaxing by the pool, then later in the afternoon went to a great place called Guanabanas, on the water, and had a relaxing meal and some drinks. Little lizards ran around waiting for people to drop food.

We had another relaxing evening at the resort and went to bed early.

Tuesday, May 29

Tuesday was prime beach weather so we spent a lot of time on the beach, at the pool, and at Waldo's, the restaurant and bar. Waldo's extends all the way onto the beach, so you can enjoy your food and drinks with great scenery.

Wednesday, May 30

We did some shopping and walking around, being lazy and taking it slow. Night fell and we were still hanging around the pool. Later that evening Waldo's had a nice band.

The moon was full on the ocean and though our cameras couldn't quite capture how amazing it was, we did get some pictures that give the idea.

Thursday, May 31

Getting hit by lightning is not only annoying but it also hurts.

It hit about 20 of us, suddenly striking the beach. People's hair was sticking up. I got hit in the head and it burned and I had a headache but it was much less bad than the last time. Joanne and Jerilyn got hit, too, and felt tingly and funny for a while.

Other than that we had a nice day on the beach and at the pool.

Friday, June 1

Friday was another prime beach day, and the ocean was calmer so you could really see the blue and turquiose colors of the water. We spent some time on the beach, then went for some ice cream and browsed a few stores.

That night we went to a great comedy show. The headliner, "Mr. Showtime" was very funny and then did some musical impressions, mostly from the 1980s.
